This video registers the  operating modes of the robot that performs the following functions, vacuum cleaner and unrequested machine vision, critic and mobile observer of the market place. It questions the  notions of subjectivity and paranoia framed by surveillance and consumption as well as the quotidian implementation of technological metaphors of vision in movement. The actions are documented by timed web cam. The robot has two configurations:

Offline: Runs from the local server

Online:  Has streaming web cams additional to the former interface.

Automatic mode:

It is possible to see in the display different critical or evocative texts messages according to the distance between the appliance and its users/spectators/owners.

The installation allows two different set ups as a local flash interface that interacts with the robots via wireless radio and commands the robot.

The camera can act as a mirror or a placeless place. In the mirror you see yourself where you are not, you are over there. There where you are not, they are devices that allow you to see yourself where you are absent. One can think in examples of this kind of relationships of the gaze of perhaps surveillance that go beyond mere human observation of ourselves and that create uncanny spaces.

This type of gaze includes the phenomena of cyber perception and networks. The power structures that are emerging within globalization seem to be dislocated and shifting in nature. Networked and descentered in the physical sphere, but somehow still centralized as an economic structure and in their media discourse. This elimination of distance creates very uncanny spaces that continuously shift their own boundaries. The idea of globalization as a flux can be transplanted to the metaphors of technological vision that have always been occupied with notions of abstraction and immateriality. It is impossible to conceive globalization without otherness. The vision machine is conceived as a third other.

The seeing/being seen dichotomy is a question of both position and disposition: It is the strangeness of the spy being revealed.

This is not an industrial robot, an industrial robots has a long planning process that can take years and has not followed the regular process in reality it is deconstructing the electronics of the appliance in a playful way. concentrate in possibilities for the further development of technologies
of vision and surveillance as a tension between the panoptic architecture and the tacit voyeur appliance object.

The robot acts as a tacit voyeur appliance object that will display three different kinds of perversion: firstly, it is paranoid, secondly it is voyeur and thirdly it is a
redundant and conspicuous consumer. This object interacts with a totalitarian panoptic architecture that has a wireless video link with the object and thus acts as an extension of its own vision or as a parasitic device that questions the limit between the public and the private; Between a collective ‘We’ and a selfish ‘I’. The implications of a paranoid gaze posed by a third kind of paranoid sick objects let us reflect on the paradoxes of vision and therefore the construction of subjectivity and otherness. Technology creates a distance that not only sets doubts about things and their representation but especially in the case of surveillance, it has a double movement of an integrating pervasive gaze that creates a disappearance of the public sphere.
